HomePersonal Injury - Levaquin

Florida Levaquin Attorney

We know how to help.

The prescription antibiotic Levaqauin was designed to help patients with serious and life-threatening infections. However, recent allegations against its manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson, say the drug causes tendon damage in elderly patients. Moreover, Johnson and Johnson allegedly knew of the increased risk of tendon damage in elderly patients but downplayed the risks to boost drug sales.

Patients over age 60, patients taking steroids and patients who have kidney, heart or lung transplants have an increased risk of tendon ruptures from taking Levaquin. Allegations against Johnson and Johnson claim that the risk of tendon injury in elderly patients tripled, but that the drug maker failed to warn users of it.

Additional side effects associated with Levaquin include:

  • Liver damage
  • Kidney damage
  • Allergic reactions
  • Abnormal blood sugar levels
  • Heart problems
  • Acute pancreatic
  • Hypokalemia
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Stevens-Johnson Syndrome

The majority of Levaquin’s side effects are chronic or long-term in nature. Medical experts agree that the side effects of Levaquin far outweigh any benefits.
