Below is a sample list for disposing of personal property. This list is normally prepared in conjunction with any basic estate plan. It can be used to dispose of things like jewelry and watches without the need of these gifts being included in a client’s will or a trust. When we meet with clients, we explain to them that they can simply prepare a form and place it with their other estate plan documents which looks similar to this form:

GUIDELINES IN DESCRIBING PERSONAL PROPERTY
Identify each item. (Chair, table, figurine, etc.);
Measure each item. / furniture – H x W x D;
Note the material. (ceramic, glass, metal wood, stone);
Note the color of the item; and
Note any identifying marks such as: Manufacturer, Country of origin, etc.
